In Defense of Marriage as defined by the Catholic Church

With all the discussion these days about the re-definition of marriage, and with the push for people (especially CEO's of large companies) to get into the fray, it seems that those who want to change the deifinition of marriage to be more "diverse" have started to indicate those of us who hold onto the definition of marriage as between one man and one woman are insensitive and homophobic, even cruel.  I would like to state that this is not the case.  The most of us faithful Catholics who would wish the definition of marriage to remain as between one man and one woman are quite open to understanding the issues within the gay community, but believe, as the church has taught us, that even though all people are created by God and therefore need to be looked upon as children of God, however not all follow God's ways nor do they listen to His Word as expressed though the Church.  We also have not lost our ability to discern between what is God's creation and what is man's reaction to God, knowing man to be a fallen creature who will often believe himself to be above God and above the Church He established.  We therefore follow the Church's declarations in Her studied and disciplined manner that marriage is defined as between one man and one woman (for the reasons stated in multiple places upon the USCCB site (www.usccb.org) especially in the article found at www.usccb.org/news/2012/12-096.cfm).  Also that we must as faithful Catholics put trust in our faithful Bishops and Cardinals and the magesterium of the Church.  This is part and parcel of being a Catholic.
