Late but still pertinent

Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield (Illinois) warned, “I am not telling you which party or which candidates to vote for or against, but I am saying that you need to think and pray very carefully about your vote, because a vote for a candidate who promotes actions or behaviors that are intrinsically evil and gravely sinful makes you morally complicit and places the eternal salvation of your own soul in serious jeopardy.”

Bishop David Ricken, of the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay stated in a letter to his parishioners “A well-formed Christian conscience does not permit one to vote for a political program that contradicts fundamental contents of faith and morals,” Ricken said in the letter. “Some candidates and one party have even chosen some of these as their party’s or their personal political platform. To vote for someone in favor of these positions means that you could be morally ‘complicit’ with these choices which are intrinsically evil. This could put your own soul in jeopardy.”

St. Louis Archibishop Raymond L. Burke in a pastoral letter stated that Catholics commit a MORTAL sinby knowingly voting for a candidate who advocates abortion.  "It is serious sin," Archbishop Burke told the St. Louis Review.  He added that a person who voted that way could receive communion ONLY AFTER a "true repentance" and obtaining absolution by going to confession.  "Its not right to support candidates who are for abortion," he added.

Thank you, Lord Jesus!

Thank you, Lord Jesus, for awakening my sleeping spirit and bringing me into your light. Thank you, Lord, for transforming me by the renewing of my mind. Thank you, Lord, for pouring out your Spirit on me, and revealing your Word to me. Thank you, Lord, for giving your angels charge over me in all my ways. Thank you for my faith in you and that from my innermost being shall flow rivers of living water. Thank you for directing my mind and heart into the love of the Father and the steadfastness of all your ways. Fill me to overflowing with your life and love, my Lord and King, Jesus Christ. AMEN

Solemn Resolution

O most merciful and loving Jesus, I offer to Thee this day my body, my soul, all that I have, all that I am.
I promise Thee by the help of Thy grace to live a good Christian life in order that I may save my soul, and also that by my love and devotion I may make some amends for the outrages offered to The in the Most Holy and Divine Sacrament.
Holy Mary, help me to be faithful to my promise. AMEN.
